A Guide to Camp America: Camp Life
Before I left to go to America I had little to no emotion and would say it all hit me in my first week of camp. This first week really was a shock for me and I wouldn’t have been able to work through the horrible spell of homesickness without the help of my friends at camp and facetime. Facetime really will be your best friend when you are away, I have a really close family so talking to my mum, dad, sister and brother everyday really made me feel better and once I got into a routine the homesickness was very rare.
For me camp life was always spent by the pool, water slides or the lake. Being a lifeguard at camp was the best job as I was always sitting in the sun for hours and had the best team, the job you have at camp is one you will be doing everyday for 9 weeks so make sure it is something you like.
Camp life also includes, lots of singing, dancing, smores and of course LOTS AND LOTS of bracelet making. There was so many different activities at camp for each child and even adults to enjoy such as water ballon fights, kayaking, volleyball, gaga ball, scavenger hunts and lots more.
Camp life is filled with happiness and fun don’t get me wrong but it can be hard. There will be times where you are woken by a scared child at 2am as ghost stories are going through camp, lots of friendship fallouts and of course the children being homesick. Childcare can be challenging, however at the end it can be the most rewarding, especially when they take the time to tell you why they are so thankful for you and how you let them have the best summer.
I am so thankful for this experience and it came at a point in my life where I really needed it, if you are looking for an adventure filled with lots of fun, friends and travel I wouldn't even think twice and just sign up.
Sounds like a fantastic summer and my girl and I have both loved reading about your experience.
ReplyDeleteThank You very much. I really appreciate it๐
DeleteWhat would you say was the toughest thing about the camp?
ReplyDeleteHiya, I would just say being mentally prepared, the kids can be hard work and being so many miles from home can be difficult but if you are mentally ready you will be absolutely fine and have the best summer!!! <3
DeleteHow much money would you recommend bringing for spending? Just a rough estimate
